The Department of Chemistry at Saarland University also runs a French-German double-degree programme in collaboration with the École Européenne de Chimie, Polymères et Matériaux (European School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials Science) at the University of Strasbourg. Students on the programme spend the first year in Strasbourg and the second year in Saarbrücken. In addition to being awarded an M.Sc. from Saarland University, graduates also receive the French engineering qualification "Diplôme d'ingénieur" from the University of Strasbourg.
